Billy-Ray Belcourt, writer and scholar from Driftpile Cree Nation, brings his latest book, The Idea of an Entire Life, to a conversation with journalist and professor Trina Roache.

Speakers

  • Billy-Ray Belcourt is from the Driftpile Cree Nation in northwest Alberta. He is an Associate Prof. in the School of Creative Writing at UBC. He is the author of six books, most recently Coexistence and The Idea of an Entire Life.

  • Trina Roache is a proud member of the Glooscap Miโ€™kmaw community, an award-winning video journalist and assistant professor at the School of Journalism, University of Kingโ€™s College, in Kjipuktuk (also called Halifax). Trina cultivated the craft of storytelling and investigative journalism over two decades, reporting for CBC, APTN National News, APTN Investigates, Canadaโ€™s National Observer, the CanadaLandback and podcast and more. She was honoured to be part of AfterWords Literary Festivalโ€™s podcast Modern Miโ€™kmaโ€™ki. Her Lโ€™nu perspective guides Trina in all aspects of her life, as a mother, storyteller, and educator.
