Making AfterWords Accessible

At AfterWords, we are committed to providing our audiences with full and equal access to our programming. Here are some of the measures we have put in place, so far.

All of our venues are wheelchair accessible and offer chairs without arms. Companion tickets can be arranged at no additional cost.

All our venues offer gender-neutral washrooms.

Many of our live events already include ASL interpretation, and we will provide ASL at any event on request. Please request ASL interpretation at additional events with at least two weeks’ notice before the event.

Our evening programming on Thursday November 7, Friday November 8, Saturday November 9, and Sunday November 10 will be livestreamed for free, via busstoptheatre.coop

Our Kids’ Day programming includes a low-sensory room.

Some of our conversation-based events touch on subject matter that may activate strong feelings. When foreseeable, we add a content warning to our event description in our program and on our ticket platform. We encourage you to care for yourself in whatever way you need to, including leaving an event while it’s in progress. We always try to create an atmosphere in which leaving is possible.

We offer free tickets for anyone who needs access—no questions asked. Our Equity Tickets program allows patrons a “pay-it-forward” option on many of our events when purchasing tickets online. If you need a free ticket to any event, please email us at info@afterwordsliteraryfestival.com and we will happily accommodate you.

To let us know your access needs (including ASL and companion ticket requests) or for any questions or feedback about our accessibility policies, please contact us at info@afterwordsliteraryfestival.com .
