The creation of a book for children is deceptively simple. How do you convey emotion, develop characters and plot, inspire and captivate children in perhaps 10, 100 or 600 words? How does writing for children compare with writing for adults? How do adult writers create a child’s voice and a child’s point of view? In this workshop, we will look at visual literacy as well as verbal literacy since picture-books and early readers rely heavily on both. A short writing exercise will inspire ideas, to reignite and revisit the emotions of childhood. Please bring writing materials.
