Our annual night of unfiltered, all-true, no notes, no holds barred storytelling, featuring Evelyn C. White, Emily Domet, returning champion Carole Rankin, and others!

Speakers

  • Halifax journalist Evelyn C. White is the author of Alice Walker: A Life. A graduate of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, she was honoured for her thesis on "The Racial Development of Blind Black Children."

  • Emily Domet is a Snoopy enthusiast, choir lover, and second-year BMus student at Kings.

  • Carole Rankin is a mother, sewist, and communications professional who lives in Kjipuktuk/Halifax. She is the founder of Connecting Threads: A Community Quilt for Perinatal Mental Health, which brings together her two passions; sewing and storytelling, all for the purpose of healing, community building, and de-stigmatizing perinatal mental health.

  • Asha Jeffers is a scholar and creative writer from Toronto who lives and works in Halifax. Her chapbook of travel poems Mundane, Majestic was published by Anstruther Press in 2021. Her poem “Unpassing” was published as a pamphlet by Annick MacAskill’s Opaat Press in 2025. Her creative writing appears in the The Angle and The Puritan. Her poetry was selected for the Nova Scotia Writers’ Federation’s Poetry in Motion public poetry project in 2020. In her academic life, she is the author of Against! Rebellious Daughters in Black Immigrant Fiction in the United States and associate professor of English and Gender and Women’s Studies at Dalhousie University.
